Martel & Rob are great friends of ours. That's them in the pictures below - a great looking and very happy couple I'm sure you'll agree?!* I first met them when they asked me to photograph their wedding at Lake Garda in 2011. Since then we've continued to stay in touch and meet up regularly for a drink or two. Rob has actually gone on to work alongside my wife at the same digital agency so we see even more of him now.
Like most newlywed couples they made plans to start a family and, like most people, didn't anticipate any problems. All seemed well then at the end of August this year, after 20 weeks of pregnancy, they lost what was to be their first child. The courage they've both displayed in the aftermath has been staggering.
Determined find some positivity in their situation this November they and some friends (largely non-runners) ran the Norwich half marathon to raise money for SANDS UK. This is a wonderful charity who provide support for those affected by infant death. Inspired by their and, sadly, several other friend's same experience I'm auctioning two prints to raise a little bit extra to go towards their sponsorship fund.
